The first of May stands for a lot. It is a sign of the beginning of spring – and after the cold April we are all the more looking forward to it. For the Catholic Church it marks the beginning of the Month of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As International Labor Day, the first of May is a day of contention and symbolizes the fight for workers’ rights. No matter from which perspective you look at this day, it is something special – and music is never missing from any celebration. In Austria we have the tradition that music bands play early in the morning on May 1st for wake-up calls and they accompany many celebrations on this special day. Celebrating and playing music together is still impossible due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, Postmusik Salzburg greets everybody with music on this special day:
With the march “Welcome to Salzburger Land” we wish all members, supporters and friends a happy First of May!
A special greeting also goes to our colleagues and friends from other music bands. The video is our contribution to the 70th anniversary of the Austrian Brass Music Association and tomorrow’s Austria-wide Day of Brass Music.
More lively music for celebrating the beginning of spring – including the march of the video – can be found on our CD “Von Salzburg nach Abbazia”.
