Concerts in the Salzburg Mirabell Gardens have a long tradition. From May to August, Salzburg music bands present their wide-ranging repertoire to the delight of guests and locals of the festival city. These Promenade Concerts on Sunday mornings and Illuminated Fountain Concerts on Wednesday evenings have been held regularly since the 1930s – with two interruptions: the Second World War and the crisis of the CoVID-19 pandemic.
After a long wait and anxiety about whether concerts could take place this year, the spell was broken with a historic concert by the Postmusik Salzburg on August 2nd. The hedge theater of the Mirabell Gardens was well attended under strict conditions due to CoVID-19 regulations and with admission controls. With a brilliant concert and a varied program that ranged from Melodies by Franz Lehar to Bohemian style music and contemporary pieces like I Need To Be In Love, the Postmusik Salzburg celebrated with their audience that finally music can be heard again in the Salzburg Mirabell Gardens.
This extremely successful concert was the prelude to the resumption of the Mirabell Gardens concerts under the special conditions of the CoVID-19 situation. The fact that this was still possible in summer 2020 is thanks to the tireless efforts of Karin Schierhuber. The Postmusik Salzburg thanks her in the name of all Salzburg music bands.
