On Sunday, October 18th, 2015 the municipality of Werfen invited the Postmusik Salzburg to their place. The occasion for the visit was the 50th anniversary of the world-famous musical film “Sound of Music – My Songs, My Dreams” and the opening of the “Sound of Music Trails”, a hiking trail that started out from the centre of Werfen via several stations and ends at the ‘Gschwandtanger’.
The ‘Gschwandtanger’ plays a very special role in the musical film: here the main figure Maria von Kutschera sings the song “DO-RE-MI” together with the Trapp children teaching them the names and sound of music notes.
The weather was lovely on this festival day and the guests from near and far enjoyed the breathtaking scenery around the mountains of the Salzburg Pongau.
In addition to musical performances by Postmusik Salzburg with singer Astrid Hinterberger-Stumpfl and the children’s choir of the Werfen elementary school, a special highlight was the festive opening of the hiking trail by Johannes von Trapp and his family accompanied by the actors of the Trapp children from the musical film: Debbie Turner, Heather Menzie Ulrich, Nicholas Hammond, and Duane Chase.
